Purpose: Each of the above items are needed to build a complete Natcar. A Natcar is a modified RC (Remote Control) car that is designed to run autonomously around a track. Students will build a physical Natcar with the parts above, as well as program the car to sense the magnetic wiring running through the track.
Benefits: Natcars use both engineering and computer science principles to run successfully. Students will use coding to program the "brain" of the car, using the cameras to sense the wiring of the track. They will also engineer modifications to their chassis build to make their car run faster and more efficiently than other teams. They will also build social skills by working together with older, undergraduate students during the design process.
